03/29/06 Total Eclipse of the Sun:

Combining 0.6, 0.8 and 1.6 um channels into a pseudo-true color image, the shadow of the moon cast upon the Earth can be seen crossing the Atlantic, Africa and Turkey. The diffuse patch of light seen moving from east to west is called sun glint, which is a result of reflected sunlight over relatively calm oceans.  These images were produced by Rick Kohrs using McIDAS to combine EUMETSAT Meteosat-8 satellite imagery provided by the SSEC Data Center.
