03/29/06 Total Eclipse of the Sun from Salloum Egypt:
This animation is 14 MB. It may take several minutes to load.
This is an animation of the entire eclipse as seen from western Egypt near the small fishing village of Salloum on the Medaterranean Sea. This animation starts 30 seconds prior to 1st contact and ends 30 seconds after 4th contact. The whole eclipse lasted 2 hours and 40 minutes. There were 78 minutes of a partially eclipsed sun prior to and after totality. At our location, we were treated to 3 minutes and 56 seconds of "mind numbing darkness" in the silvery shadow of the moon. This is also commonly referred to as totality. Totality is, as always, way to short.
